On Teacher Objectivity

Very often in my career, I was accused of being non-objective. Teachers, especially of the social sciences, are supposed to be objective, they said.

To them, I offer this article about the objectivity of journalists.  Substitute the word teacher for journalist, and there you have it.  Come to think of it, the social studies teacher is very much like a journalist, or should be.  Social studies teachers who parrot the curriculum, as they almost all do, aren't worth a damn; they're following orders.
